The Swedish government is currently developing a new export strategy. One of the steps has been to create a list of 26 countries with whom relations will be prioritised between now and 2020. The priority countries are chosen because they are economically significant and are expected to have high economic growth, reports Dagens Nyheter. Only two European countries are on the list, which includes Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar. The Minister for Enterprise, Mikael Damberg (S) told the newspaper that the export venture is not meant to favour any particular regimes: “We see trade and contacts as a way to highlight issues such as human rights violations.”
