It’s that time of the year again – Nobel Week.
Press conferences and lectures will be held over the next week, crescending with Nobel Day on 10 December, with the prize award ceremonies in Stockholm and Oslo. An event calendar for the week is available here. The Nobel Prizes in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel are awarded at the Stockholm Concert Hall. The Nobel Peace Prize is awarded at Oslo City Hall in Norway on 10 December.
Chemist, engineer and industrialist Alfred Nobel left 31 million SEK to fund the Nobel Prizes. The first Nobel Prizes were awarded on 10 December, 1901. In total, 904 individuals and 24 organisations have been awarded Nobel Prizes. See the full list of all Nobel Laureates here, awarded for “the benefit of humankind”.
During the week, there is free entrance to the Nobel Museum (10am – 6pm).
On 12 December, the Riksdag is organising a seminar with Dr. Denis Mukwege, the 2018 Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
