PM Stefan Löfven speaks out against anti-Semitism

Following the fire bomb attack against at the synagogue in Gothenburg last week, the Prime Minister, Stefan Löfven (S), has met with representatives for the European Jewish Congress (EJC). “I have been very clear with the fact that this is completely unacceptable in Sweden. We will do everything we can to increase security, but also to prevent these kinds of expressions of hate,” Löfven told Svenska Dagbladet, in connection with the EU summit in Brussels. “We must make sure that we get another discussion in the countries in Europe – because they are seeing the same problem. Jews are just like everyone else, an asset in our society, and should be seen as just this,” said Löfven. “We should never accept that political conflicts, like the one between Israel and Palestine for example, is ever used as an excuse for hate and violence on our streets. Hatred of Jews and anti-Semitism will be driven out of Sweden”.
